Burn Survivor Takes on Her Country…and Wins!

Natalia Ponce de Leon was a successful business women in her native Bogota, Colombia, when one day she answered her front door and was doused with a container of sulfuric acid by a stalker. She suffered disfiguring burns to her face, neck and upper body. To make matter worse, few perpetrators of acid burn crimes against women ever came to trial and conviction in Colombia, a country that led the world in these heinous crimes. That was not acceptable to Natalia Ponce de Leon. She fought back and she changed the law of the land.
